Flagship Telephoto Showdown:
High-Resolution Image Comparisons Between Oppo and Vivo

Methodology Note

All images in this comparison were captured using each phone's primary telephoto camera:

  • X9 Pro: 3× 200MP telephoto camera
  • X200 Ultra: 200MP telephoto camera
  • X8 Ultra: 3× 50MP telephoto camera

Why telephoto cameras?

  • To evaluate whether 200MP telephoto sensors provide a meaningful real-world image quality advantage over Oppo's 50MP telephoto sensor.
  • For many photographers, the telephoto camera is the most useful lens on a smartphone for portrait, street, and detail-oriented photography.
  • The telephoto cameras used in this comparison are much closer in focal length (~70–85mm equivalent), resulting in more comparable perspectives and compositions than typical smartphone main cameras.

What was I looking for?

  • Natural tonal gradations and realistic detail capture.
  • Files that retain texture without excessive smearing, oversharpening, or computational artifacts.
  • Image quality that more closely resembles what I expect from a dedicated camera system.

My photography focuses primarily on portraits, street photography, and fine art urban abstracts, where texture, subtle tonal transitions, and natural rendering are often more important than maximum sharpness or aggressive image processing.

Full commentary, original files, and downloadable image sets will be added soon.

This page contains a series of interactive 100% crop comparisons between the OPPO Find X8 Ultra, OPPO Find X9 Pro, and Vivo X200 Ultra.

Unless otherwise noted, all images were captured at 50MP using each phone's highest-quality RAW workflow:

  • OPPO Find X8 Ultra and X9 Pro: RAW MAX / Super RAW
  • Vivo X200 Ultra: Super RAW

For scenes where at least one device exceeded ISO 800, the comparison uses each phone's highest-resolution image mode instead:

  • OPPO Find X8 Ultra and X9 Pro: High Resolution mode
  • Vivo X200 Ultra: 50MP Portrait mode, which consistently produced the strongest results among the Vivo's high-resolution JPEG capture modes during testing.

All comparisons are presented as 100% crops from the original 50MP files.

Detailed scene-by-scene commentary and analysis will be added soon.

Links to the original full-resolution files and crops will also be provided shortly. Stay tuned.

Processing Notes

  • All images were captured using each phone's default camera settings.
  • The only adjustment made during review was minor exposure balancing in Adobe Camera Raw where required.
  • No additional edits were applied. No sharpening, noise reduction, color adjustments, AI enhancement, texture adjustments, or other image manipulations were performed.
